The State of New Jersey is offering the College of Direct Support (CDS) FREE to employees in the field of Developmental Disabilities. CDS is a web-based learning management system available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for employees to improve their skills in providing supports for people with developmental disabilities.

The training curriculum is infused with a set of values and skill standards to train Direct Support Professionals and their supervisors as they support people in community-based settings. Values such as inclusion, honored rights, leading self-determined lives and ethical, values-based treatment, among others, are at the core of CDS training and our mission.

Employees may be asking “what’s in it for me?” It will help employees to do their best, give them information to do their job more easily and is part of a national credential program. By participating in the program employees demonstrate their desire to pursue greater knowledge and skills.

The program was designed to be user friendly even for those who are not computer savvy. It is a very straight forward, user friendly, click-of -the-mouse process. 21 Plus has created an illustrated, step by step instruction manual to navigate the web based learning program. Employees without a personal computer are encouraged to book time on a computer at the office by contacting Heather Wilson, QMA ,732 240-3118 x23. If you have any questions about the CDS please call Diane Hutton-Rose, Director of Quality Management, at 732- 240-3118 x 26.
