21 Plus welcomes opportunities to partner with community groups to improve the interior and exterior of our residential sites. Without the hard work of volunteers these projects could not be accomplished. We always have items on our "to do" list and welcome opportunities to work with our groups again or establish new partnerships. Please call Heather Wilson, 732 240-3118 x 23 if your service organization would like to volunteer. 21 Plus is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Habitat for Humanity and their multiple Volunteer Groups

Habitat for Humanity included 21 Plus again this year in the "Brush with Kindness" cycle of events. The groups visited all of our Residential Sites, 8 Group Homes and 4 Apartments. The incredible gift of time and resources targeted exterior maintenance. The many projects included custom building a shed, trimming trees and shrubs, weeding and planting flowers in flower beds, general yard clean-up, cleaning, scraping and painting steps and decks, and power washing homes, fences, and sheds.

"We are very pleased and proud of what was accomplished. The houses look wonderful! The Volunteer Groups all worked extremely hard." - Peggy Burger Some of the volunteer groups that partnered with Habitat for Humanity are:

  • St. Joseph's and St. Barnabas' Youth Groups
  • Blue Thong Society
  • United Water
  • Manchester High School
  • Central Regional High School

Thank all of the volunteers who worked so hard and Peggy Burger, Program Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity, for all her hard work in coordinating the event!

New Jersey Natural Gas

One of our Toms River Groups homes got a wonderful pick me up when 10 volunteers from NJNG came out and painted 5 rooms there. They also painted a bedroom and den area of one of our homes as part of United Way- Day of Caring program.

The Lacey Inter-Act Club from Lacey High School

The Inter-Act Club helped us in 2009, 2010 and came back in 2011 to paint the interior of our Toms River Group Home. Everyone appreciates a clean and well-maintained interior and the four rooms with bright and clean walls create a positive atmosphere for the individuals who live and work there. Special Thanks to Bunny McCauley, Advisor for her enthusiasm and coordination of the Inter-Act Club students.

Presbyterian Church of Toms River

The Presbyterian Church of Toms River arrived with approximately 20 volunteers in April giving two yards of our homes a thorough Spring Cleanup.

Girl Scout Troop #71

True to their Mission, "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place", the members of troop #71 performed some spring cleaning and planted flower beds at one of our Toms River homes.

Merrill Lynch, Toms River

Members of the Toms River Merrill Lynch office generously donated their time this summer painting bedroom, bathrooms and hallways in one of our Toms River homes.

Toms River Daybreak Kiwanis

The Kiwanis group also generously donated their time and efforts to paint one of our Toms River homes- Special Thanks to Ann Kraljic for coordinating both the Merrill lynch and Toms River Daybreak Kiwanis groups.

Kudos to all the volunteers who generously give of themselves in our community.
